Skooba Introduces Ultra-Lightweight “Security Brief” Laptop Bags

Rochester, NY, April 4, 2012—Skooba Design has introduced the Checkthrough® Security Brief—the latest generation of the company’s collection of “Checkpoint-Friendly” laptop bags. Checkpoint-Friendly bags comply with TSA requirements and protocols that allow them to be sent through airport screening with the laptop left inside. Aside from the obvious convenience of not having to remove the laptop, Checkpoint-Friendly bags help prevent damage, and minimize the chances that the laptop will be one of the tens of thousands lost or stolen in airports in a typical year. 

The new Security Brief is a sleek, smoothly-contoured and tailored case that offers about 2-dozen pockets and compartments, including a Doc Pocket™ ticket/passport organizer, file section with adjustable/removable divider, key ring, USB thumb drive caddy and more. The Security Brief has the styling, quality and basic functions of a high-end business case, but hinges and opens in the middle to separate and isolate the laptop compartment from the rest of the bag. Although the TSA does not require it, Skooba’s provides a clear window inside the bag for immediate visual confirmation by the TSA officer, reducing the chance of secondary inspection. The unfolded bag is sent through x-ray screening, and can be carried away securely with or without the hinge zipped shut, so the traveler can simply pick up the bag and go, zipping it back up on the move or at the gate. This feature also allows the bag to be readied in line, prior to screening.
